The USD is going down

This week the US dollar has been decreasing against many of the major currencies like Euro, Pund, Yen and Swedish Krona. Many experts belive this will continue for some time, so I guess you have to more your investments to other currencies like Euro.

In “Watch out for the dollar!” on the 23rd of June this year I posted some outlooks from a few Swedsih banks. According to the 6 month forecast it looks like Nordea, Föreningssparbanken and Handelsbanken are most correct. If they continue to be correct about the dollar we should see a dollar at the same level as today in about 12 months.

15 minutes - now 15 megabytes

Here’s something I wrote for The World According to Xavier:

In the old days (read: as late as in the beginning of this year) it was called “15 minutes of fame” when someone got a short-term hit of some kind in TV or Radio. With the latest hit (or what-ever you should call web sites like MySpace, YouTube, Google Video and many more) I guess we have to change that expression to “15 megabytes of fame”.  In the old days you had to do something unusual, make a reporter interested in your “project” and wait for the late TV news to have people see you on TV. Today anyone can broadcast their ideas, project or crazy stuff as they like because all you need is a camera, a video editing software (free or trial software will do just fine) and a crazy idea. The actual publishing of the video is the easy part nowadays with all picture and video sharing communities all over Internet.

This new trend with video publishing can of course also be used by companies as a compliment to ordinary advertising campaigns. A company can easily (and at pretty low cost) produce a short, funny and crazy video with some kind of hidden ad. This has already been done several times this year and I guess we will see it even more in the future. The upside of this is that ads should be funnier to watch, but the downside is that it will be harder to see the difference between ads and home-made projects.

I don’t think the trend with video and picture sharing communities will stop in the near future because people have always wanted fame and will so in the future too. We simply just have to relax and enjoy all the fun stuff published. Just don’t believe everything you find on the Internet…..

Oil under 55 dollar

The oil price is currently down 30 % in NY since the top price of 78 USD in July to a price under 55 dollar per barrel. The price for Brent oil is currently at USD 58,05 in London and also metals like cupper and aluminium are down in London.

USD vs SEK

According to di.se we should see a USD at 6,50 SEK in a short time period. The financial graph from Xavier Finance show a decreasing dollar agains the Swedish krona.

Twice as expensive oil

The oil price will stay around USD 60 for a few years and then double to about USD 130 per barrel in year 2030 according to World Energy Outlook from International Energy Agency (IEA).

The big question I ask when I see news like this is simply: How much oil will there be in the world year 2030 and do we really need oil then?

I really hope that the world will have found new energy sources until 2030, because the demand for engery will countinue to rise and we need energy sources that doesn’t destroy our planet….. Just my few cents :D

Establishing new bank

Establishing new bank

No one can start a bank in United States (and in many other nations as well) without the excess approval of federal or state authorities .the
public need for a new bank must be demonstrated and the honesty and competence of its organizers and proposed management established .sufficient protection against failure must be provided in the form of equity capital pledged founding stockholders .only the banking commissions in each of the 50 states and the office of comptroller of the currency - a division of the US treasury department -can issue a charter of incorporation to start a new bank the chartering process typically begins with a group of people or a bank holding company organization becoming convinced that a new bank is needed in a particular city .

Some questions will be asked of the organizers of the new bank by the regulators like ; the population , geography ,competing banks or organization ,number of banks ,type and size ,and the traffic patterns in the proposed bank area ,the growth of the population and their income . The organizers are asked to describe the banking history of the local community and who owns the stock issued by the proposed bank, especially the amount to be hold by the bank organizers, directors. The answers to these questions are often supported by detailed economics analysis of the local market, prepared by an economist or professional business analyst.

To establish a bank under federal (national) law, one must obtain
approval of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC). To establish a bank under state law, one must obtain approval of the bank chartering authority for the state at issue. Whether chartered under state or federal law, the bank will be required to carry deposit insurance. Applications for
deposit insurance coverage are filed with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

An individual seeking to establish a bank in the United States may be required to file an application under the Change
in Bank Control Act. The person should confer with the applicable chartering authority (state or federal) or the FDIC
to determine if an application is required under the circumstances and with which regulatory agency the application
must be filed.
